Maddogs preschool, Candy Cane Lane, went to the pumpkin patch this week on a field trip. This would be the 3rd time I have been on this exact field trip. It is so awesome going back each year (with a different kid of course) to Miss Jennifer!!! We love her! Anyway... McGwire's 3 year old class doesn't go on field trips so Maddux wanted him to tag along with us. The boys got to each pick a pumpkin from the patch. My boys were intrigued by the GREEN ones!! Which was ok with me because they make great decorations!!
They got to feed miniature ponies. My boys both LOVE horses!!!

They did a treasure hunt in the corn maze!!! Look who came out successful with the treasure!!!
McGwire had a hard time walking through the corn. He was a little discouraged! Especially when his brother was the one to find the treasure!
The kids got to ride on the hay wagon around the farm! It was a great time!!
Yesterday Mick woke up and wasn't feeling well for school so I let him stay home. Around noon Maddux came running into my office shouting, "Mick's bleeding... Mick's bleeding." (While I am on the phone with a client!!) Well, my sick 10 year old that was staying home from school because he was "sick" was playing football downstairs and jammed his toe into the floor. We put bandaids on every 1/2 hour but it just kept bleeding through.
So.... being the little doc I am we got some gauze and I came up with the concoction!!! He laid on the couch the rest of the day popping Ibuprofen. When it was time to go to football he put on his pads and went to put on his shoes and just cried. He tried.. he walked around the house and said, "it feels better with shoes." And then the more he walked the more I could see the pain in his eyes and he just broke down!!!
After talking with his coach, he said to stay home and iced it!!! Mick came in the house and literally just started bawling. For those of you who know Mick he doesn't show alot of emotion and hardly ever cries. I knew he was in pain but when I started talking to him he said, "Mom... I want to go to practice... I have to go to practice.... what about the playoffs?" So in my 10 year old little boys little head all he could think about was his playoff game this weekend. In his prayers he prayed that he could be "tough enough to play through the pain." His wording!!! Bub called him a little later after practice and told him the other tight end had gotten stitches yesterday so he hoped he was good to play on Saturday. Mick with much confidence said, "Oh... I will be there." So we are hoping it feels better this morning. I will post another picture on it's pretty shades of black and blue later!

Jess,
Boys are funny aren't they? Tell Mick good luck on Friday!
What a driven boy!!! Does he know Bayler... Bay is exactly the same way. Maybe its the first kid. I love the prayer. How sweet! karen
Mick is so awesome!!!! You have raised him well. I hope his toe is doing better by Saturday so he doesn't have to play through the pain-- but he's tough so I'm sure he will be there.
Jess I am impressed with your bandaging ability! And it is nice to hear that all boys aren't wimps!! Tell Mick good luck at the playoffs!
Poor Mick! Matthew said it was awful. I've hurt my toe before and it's hard to even walk...but when you put shoes on it's almost unbearable. I hope he's feeling better....and that the pain has subsided at least a LITTLE!! Jason said how much he wanted to go to practice still....and I think that meant a lot to Jason. He was impressed by that. Matthew, I have to admit, is really keeping his fingers crossed that Mick will be able to play on Saturday. :o) (actually, Jason is, too....I'm sure!!) I hope the weather isn't too bad for us on Saturday and that Mick will be able to be there without any pain. What bad luck that he did that to his poor toe.... And tell me, what kind of kid plays football in the HOUSE!!?? hee hee For Jessica's readers who think I'm being rude...I'm only kidding. MY KIDS ARE THE WORST AT DOING THAT. I can't STOP them from tackling and throwing some kind of stupid ball around. :o)
I broke my toe at gymnastics when I was in junior high, and that sucker hurt. Bad. I honestly don't know how boys (and eventually guys) manage. Corbin got a staple through his finger today and had to go to the instacare to get it removed.
Looks like it was a fun field trip! Your kids are sure cuttie pies!
Poor Mick! That looks like it hurts so bad! I love his cute prayer! Such a good kid! I love the pics at the pumpkin patch! We are going in a few weeks. The only difference is, the pumpkins will probably be covered in snow!
Ouch, what an injury. What a competitor, can't wait to hear the update.
Jess- Mick is tough just like you! I really had to laugh because you were on the phone with a client! That is always how it happens. The field trip looked so fun. I'd like to meet miss Jennifer. We need her here. Are you going to Emery County for Thanksgiving? We are maybe we could hook up.Let me know.
Wow, those are some seriously tough boys! All of my kids could use some pointers from the Madsens. So glad you left a comment, I had you on my sidebar and tried to change the template and all list of blogs got erased. I drove around one day and I think I saw your new house being built. If it was the one, it was Huge. It's going to be beautiful! How Fun:)
